If you volunteered and want to give your hours to a friend for year-end awards, please contact VolunteerVADA@gmail.com to get your Volunteer Form sooner rather than later.  If you are using your own hours, you will not need to submit a form. Please read their thank you letter here.

  • Message from SVVADA President: As we move beyond quarantine and lock down in our dressage show community, please be patient and flexible as our local and regional organizations resume show offerings. These individuals, both volunteer and professional, have no more experience in a post-pandemic world than anyone else. We are all trying to determine and formulate new safety guidelines, often in the absence of national-level guidance. Everyone is doing their best under extraordinary circumstances at great time and expense.

GMOs and private farms will probably run most of their offerings (shows, clinics, etc.) at a loss in 2020 in order to "keep our sport alive" during this trying time. The additional protocols and associated supplies (masks for volunteers, cleaners and hand sanitizer, electronic communication devices, emergency response crews to handle show incidents in a medically professional manner, etc.) required to implement the protocols will cost a substantial sum of money. In addition, these purchases will be procured via multiple orders, at uncertain intervals, because of the lack of supply availability. Membership for most organizations has decreased significantly this year because there have been so few shows to date. To compensate the members, many GMO chapters will carry their 2020 memberships over into 2021. The chapters will still pay national fees to the parent organizations for two years (2020 and 2021) for each and every one of us, yet they will only collect dues from us for 2020. In essence, they will carry us at a loss.

So, to reiterate, please be patient and flexible. Try to adhere to the new rules. Don't complain if you see some organizations, especially private ones, add a COVID-19 surcharge to their entries. Don't create Facebook posts that complain about the quality of prizes. Simply be appreciative that there are many underpaid dressage professionals and dedicated volunteers who are trying to maintain our sport in the best way that they can under conditions for which none of us are at fault.
